Records consist mostly of correspondence and cables, primarily of Gunnar Jarring, who was in charge of the United Nations Middle East Mission (UNMEM), to United Nations Headquarters, the Palestine Democratic Front, and others concerning refugees, and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Sharm-el-Sheikh, 1969; and other matters pertaining to the Mission's task of assisting efforts towards peaceful settlement in the Middle East. Also included are press releases, reports, working papers, memoranda, meeting notes, and an appointments calendar, 1969-1973.

In 1945, four individuals who had worked on the Manhattan project-John L. Balderston, Jr., Dieter M. Gruen, W.J. McLean, and David B. Wehmeyer-formed a committee and wrote a letter to 154 public figures asking for their opinions about the possibility of the creation of a world government.
